Shakira (8) went outside to the toilet around 5:00pm, but she did not return. Her mother became concerned and went to check, only to find that Shakira was gone. She immediately began searching nearby homes, but without success.
Jesus the shepherd leaves the 99 sheep in the wilderness to search for the one lost sheep until he finds it.
The matter was reported to Pastor Kausiwa. He initiated a local search with others from the church. He also advised Bishop Chilemba in Blantyre of the situation.
Bishop Chilemba travelled 3 1/2 hours to Pangeti. She involved the local chiefs and and advised the police of the situation. She directed multiple teams to search by geography. She also created a lost child sign with Shakira’s picture and posted it at public markets in a broad area.
Shakira walked 30 km (21 miles) in 8 days
Eight days after she disappeared, a man called after seeing one of the posters. Bishop and Elijah traveled to a distant market. By God’s grace, Shakira was found at Konzere market which is about 30 km from Pangeti.
Shakira was asked what happened. She explained that she heard a voice telling her to walk, which led her away. Some deliverance was performed later. Despite everything, the Lord watched over her, and we are so thankful she is now safe.
