Orphan Shade launched a music therapy pilot program in Pangeti two months ago. The objective was to introduce and teach a musical instrument to the girl’s in one family. Published research suggests that the combination of playing an instrument, learning new music and singing has the effect of “lighting up” areas of the brain of trauma impacted children.
The Music Therapy pilot program yielded its first positive results

We did not really know what to expect from this experiment other than guidance on paying attention to the children through the process. Sure enough, Mrs. Chilemba (mom) was watching. She told our team in Blantyre that two of the girls, Ruth & Maria, showed a positive change in behavior. Both girls were considered “shy”, independent, and avoided group activities with their sisters. They are now integrated on the team and spending more time with their sisters. This change occurred over the previous six weeks. Coincidence???
Mrs. Chilimba reported that both Maria & Ruth have come out of their shell and engaged socially with their sisters in the last 6 weeks

We should also note than the two girls are the better ukulele students amongst Team Pangeti.
We are very thankful to our friends at Northwest Christian Fellowship for supplying the funds for this project.
Finally, Jesus gets all the glory and honor for the results. Please join us in prayer that more healing occurs.
